I can’t quite believe a whole year has flown by since we opened the doors of our beautiful shop on Burford’s High Street.

Being part of this amazing group of independent businesses and female founders has been one of the greatest joys of the past year. We’re more than just shop owners, we’re friends who came together with a shared passion to create something truly unique. No.31 isn’t just a shop; it’s a space filled with heart, creativity, and a love for what we do.

It’s been wonderful collaborating with over 16 other talented brands, each bringing their own magic and character to No.31. Together, we’ve built a community that not only offers something special for locals and visitors, but also supports and uplifts each other every single day.

In this post, I wanted to celebrate them just some of our favourite memories from the past year, moments we’ve all cherished as part of this adventure.

STARTING WITH MINE
When your mate turns up to check out your new shop and comes dressed in the BEST HELLO TIME outfit!

ANNA’S BEST MEMORY OF No.31 Year1!
Cotswold Knit’s happiest moments at No.31 have been meeting customers from all over the world and finding out about what they are doing next on their travels.

ANNIE’S BEST MEMORY OF No.31 Year1!
When I asked our lovely jewellery designer Annie from Anne Michelle Jewellery about her top moment of our first year she said this:

“Our opening party! All being together, celebrating each other and our small-business community, as we began our journey as team No.31.”

TRACY’S BEST MEMORY OF No.31 Year1!
Tracy, founder of Cotswold Hipster’s favourite memory of our first year in the shop is always about seeing the actual dogs. I must know their names!! And maybe hold a little 🐾 paw!

We all love seeing our four-legged friends come in and choose a new collar and lead!

ZOE’S BEST MEMORY OF No.31 Year1!
For Zoë, founder of The Phive, her favourite memories are all about the thrill she sees on our customers faces when they spot something they have never seen or discover our incredible eatery, she says:

“Seeing a lifelong celiac walk in and discover a whole array of delicious Gluten Free food is always so heart-warming, it’s even moved people to tears! I also absolutely love seeing where my creative learning products are going and helping customers to choose the right thing for the children in their lives! No.31 is such a joy, and I love that we all club together to run it as a team.”

SAL’S BEST MEMORY OF No.31 Year1!
“There have been so many highlights, but my absolute favourite must be the sense of community that’s grown between the 14 small businesses who make up this wonderful space - and our incredible customers who’ve welcomed us, supported us and championed what we do.”

Over the past year, Ducky Zebra has launched several new collections - including their Roald Dahl sleepwear collaboration, our playful 'More Moor!' designs, and our latest range of gorgeous aprons - and each time, the support has been just brilliant.

CHARLIE’S BEST MEMORY OF No.31 Year1!
Local Painter Charlie Davies starting painting local scenes for the Burford shop which then led her to paint Tolkien’s door in Stow which was magical experience, with the snow starting to fall as she began to paint!

She said “I’m delighted to join this fabulous group of wonder women. They are kind, nurturing and supportive. All the good vibes help to make this a very special place!”

We take turns running the shop, share DIY tips, learn about each other’s products (and the thoughtful details behind them), and lift each other up daily (which I really needed during six months of car-related chaos!). It truly feels like a small business family - with our customers right at the heart of it 💛

Looking back at these wonderful memories reminds me how lucky I am to be part of such a supportive and inspiring team at No.31. It’s been a year of learning, laughter, hard work, and plenty of planted based lunches!

To everyone who has stepped through our doors, thank you. Your kind words, smiles, and support mean the world to all of us. And to my fellow No.31 shopkeepers, here’s to many more shared milestones, joyful moments, and new adventures.

If you haven’t visited us yet, pop by next time you’re in Burford, we’d love to see you!
